Septic System Inspection

A subsurface waste water disposal system (septic) inspection is designed to provide the buyer and seller of a property with information regarding the age, status, and general condition of the system. The process will help identify those problems representing health hazards such as system malfunctions and surface discharges. The inspection is regulated by the State of Maine and voluntary in most cases but required for any person transferring property within a coastal shoreland area. Maine has established minimum criteria for evaluating and reporting on existing subsurface wastewater disposal systems. API is certified by the State of Maine to conduct these inspections. The inspection includes a camera review of the home’s waste line, review of the system plan, septic tank condition and general function of the leach field.
